Welsh driver, Gwyndaf Evans, in his SEAT World Rally Car, is heading for his fourth Lurgan Park Rally victory.
From the start of today’s nine stages, Evans has dominated proceedings and after six stages, he has an eleven second advantage.
The Subaru World Rally Car of Glengormley‘s Derek McGarrity is his principal opposition. McGarrity, who crashed out in spectacular fashion last year, is some
ten seconds ahead of surprise packet, Maurice Gass, also a Subaru WRC.
Denis Biggerstaff, in his Metro 6R4, is fourth with Trevor Moore, with a fine performance in his Escort Cosworth, completing the top five.
Kenny McKinstry, who has won this event nine times, has recovered from his first stage indiscretion that saw his Subaru WRC overshoot a junction and drop vital
seconds. "King Kenny", is back into the top ten - in sixth place and hoping to make up a few more places on the leader board before the end of the day.
Elsewhere, Daniel Doherty (Subaru WRC) has slipped outside the top ten and Wesley Patterson, has also lost a few places - his Sierra Cosworth broke a
driveshaft.
The Lurgan Park Challenge Time Trial follows the completion of nine stage SEAT sponsored Lurgan Park Rally.
