The valuable Paddy Power Gold Cup could be next on the agenda for Too Forward after he made a mockery of his rivals in the Weatherbys Bank Handicap Chase.
Carl Llewellyn’s charge ran some great races in defeat at Cheltenham last season and could head back there on November 11 after his impressive two-length victory over the 11-4 favourite Kinburn.
Timmy Murphy oozed confidence when taking closer order on the 11-2 chance down the back straight, and held on to his mount until the final fence.
It was at this moment he sent the 10-year-old past the front-running Kinburn, who had blundered his way round, and Too Forward went away for a tidy success.
Hautclan ran with credit on his first outing for 590 days when finishing another 14 lengths back in third.
Llewellyn said: “I was worried about the ground but Timmy went wide and got the best of it. We will see how he comes out of this but if he is bouncing he will go for the Paddy Power.”
