Gardaí were this afternoon investigating an alleged sexual assault on a GAA pitch in Galway.

Gardaí were this afternoon investigating an alleged sexual assault on a GAA pitch in Galway.

A woman claims she was attacked at the sports ground in Mervue at about 3.30am yesterday morning.

She reported the incident a short time later.
