Racing: Godolphin leave four in Dubai World Cup

Godolphin will have four representatives in Saturday's seventh running of the Dubai World Cup.

The quartet will be headed by last year's Arc de Triomphe and Breeders' Cup hero Sakhee.

The horse has hardened in the betting with the news that possible rival Nayef sidesteps the race.

The Marcus Tregoning-trained four-year-old will instead be aimed at the Dubai Sheema Classic over a mile and a half on the same glittering Nad Al Sheba card.

Nayef is owned, like Sakhee, by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, but unlike his year-older counterpart he has not been transferred into the care of the Godolphin outfit and trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

The decision to bypass the World Cup with Nayef comes despite jockey Richard Hills stating earlier this week that he preferred the 10-furlong option for the colt.

A total of 23 horses trained locally by bin Suroor were declared for Saturday's card.
