John Terry is expected to be fit to lead Chelsea in Sunday’s Barclays Premiership game against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Terry is the Blues’ only injury doubt after picking up a slight leg injury in England’s 4-1 defeat in Denmark on Wednesday. The Chelsea captain was rested yesterday but returned to training today and showed improvement, according to boss Jose Mourinho.
William Gallas is again expected to partner Terry in central defence, although Ricardo Carvalho keeps his place in the squad despite angering Mourinho by expressing his frustration at not securing a place in the starting line-up for the opening-day victory at Wigan.
Provisional squad: Cech, Ferreira, Gallas, Terry, del Horno, Gudjohnsen, Lampard, J Cole, Makelele, Tiago, Duff, Drogba, Robben, Cudicini, C Cole, Geremi, Carvalho, Crespo, Johnson, Wright-Phillips.
