Berry thankful for diabetes
Halle Berry is thankful she suffers from diabetes - without it she's convinced she'd never have become an Oscar-winning actress.
The Monsters Ball star has suffered the disorder since childhood, but rarely speaks about it and the insulin she has to take each day.
But she told the star-studded crowd at a benefit event in Los Angeles last weekend she credits diabetes with her success.
To applause from Oprah Winfrey, Michael Caine, Beyonce Knowles, Warren Beatty and Annette Bening at the Carousel of Hope Berry said: "My teacher told me at the age of 10 that when I grew up, I was going to be given a gift. Diabetes turned out to be it. It gave me the strength and toughness I needed for my life."
