Drogheda players lift strike threat
Tonight's eircom League game between Drogheda United and St Patrick' s Athletic will to ahead as planned despite a strike threat from the Drogheda players.
The Co Louth club has agreed to give the players unpaid wages after the match in Richmond Park.
The squad had voted in favour of striking and would have refused to line out for the game without a promise from club bosses.
Elsewhere tonight, Cork City can close the gap on Bohemians at the top of the Premier Division table if they beat UCD at Belfield.
Bohs currently lead the table by 11 points, but Cork have a match in hand.
Third-placed Shelbourne, who trail Bohs by 12 points with two matches in hand, can also narrow the gap if they beat Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds tonight in a fixture switched from flood-hit Tolka Park.
