Obamas due in 'perfect postcard' Glendalough
Failte Ireland has said the Obama's trip to Glendalough today is the perfect postcard image of Ireland for the US tourist market.
Fáilte Ireland has welcomed today's visit by the US First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters, describing it as "a significant boost".
The tourism body said research shows US visitors appreciate Ireland for its scenery and its heritage.
The organisation said they hope the Obama's trip will serve as the perfect postcard to entice Americans to start planning their visits.
The US First Family are due to arrive in Glendalough this morning for a tour of the monastic site.
Michelle, Malia and Sasha will visit the ancient Round Tower and the scenic lakes.
Glendalough has been closed to the public for the duration of the visit.
This afternoon, the First Lady and her daughters will have a private lunch with Bono in Dalkey in South Dublin, before flying back to Belfast to rejoin the US President Barack Obama when he leaves the G8 summit this evening to fly to Germany.
