This afternoon many parents have taken their children home from Holy Cross girls primary school in the Ardoyne area of Belfast.

Loyalist demonstrators say their protests at the school will continue.

There is now a question mark about whether or not the school can continue to operate.

The RUC has slammed the protesters while Sinn Fein has compared the situation to that in Alabama during segregation.

For their part, the demonstrators say Protestants in the area are being forced from their homes and are being subjected to attacks.

The protesters also claim they were subjected to brutality from the security forces.
