Drogheda United make the short trip north to neighbours Dundalk today for the Airtricity League's first Louth derby of the season at Oriel Park (kick-off 4.30pm).

For United, Paul Crowley and Eric McGill are suspended, while there are doubts about Robbie Martin who suffered a head injury during the week.

Drogheda boss, Mathews said: "This is a massive game for us and one we are really looking forward to.

"It gives us a chance to really show what we are made of, the lads are really up for this and have been training well all week.

"It’s always going to be a tough task to travel to Dundalk and try to get something from the game. I was very disappointed with the performance last week and we will look to up our game on Sunday."

Dundalk remain without injured striker Tiarnán Mulvenna (knee) who should return to action by the end of the month, but otherwise boss Ian Foster has a full squad to choose from.

"Any results before a derby game pale into insignificance," said Foster.

"Form goes out the window, and you normally get blood and thunder in these types of fixtures, and I wouldn’t expect anything else from this game."
