The Equality Authority has accused the Government of not supporting carers adequately.

The Equality Authority has accused the Government of not supporting carers adequately.

The authority said the Government’s policies limit the choices for people who wanted to combine paid employment with their caring responsibilities.

An estimated 120,000 Irish people provide constant care to a relative, with only 20,000 of these receiving financial support from the State.
