Spurs full-back Stephen Carr has hailed Glenn Hoddle's imminent arrival at White Hart Lane as a victory for fan-power.
Hoddle, who quit as Southampton boss on Tuesday night, is expected to sign a five-year contract with Tottenham once a compensation figure has been agreed.
Republic of Ireland international Carr is convinced that the recent turn of events are a direct reaction to demands from the terraces.
Carr said: "One thing that comes out of this for me is how powerful a set of fans can be.
"They wanted the chairman (Sir Alan Sugar) out and they wanted George (Graham) out and now they've achieved both aims.
"People talk about player power but I think that this was a strong example of fan power.
"They are totally entitled to their opinions because they pay good money every week, and what they wanted was a return to the tradition of the club.
"Now it seems they might get what they want, and, more importantly, who they want."
Carr insists that the rapid appointment of Hoddle, which is expected to be confirmed today, has come as much of a surprise to the Tottenham players as to everyone else.
"I think in the end it was inevitable Glenn was going to get the job, but the speed at which it is happening is astonishing," he added.
"That's football though, things like this happen overnight. I know the public think we players have special insight, an insider's view, but in truth, we don't know much more than they do.
"It's not really our job to know. Our role is just to give 100 per cent for whoever is the manager and that's it.
"We gave that under George Graham and we'll do the same under Glenn Hoddle if and when he arrives."
Carr is confident that Hoddle will be a success in his new role but also paid one last parting compliment to Graham.
"Glenn did well as England manager, and Southampton have done unbelievably well since he took over," said Carr.
"He's a good organiser of a team and, purely on a general level, you tend to learn something new from every new manager you play for.
"I've said before, I personally learnt the most to date under George Graham and I won't forget that.
"Now I look forward to seeing what Glenn, if he is confirmed as Spurs manager, can do to me as a player."
