Instructors query crackdown on learners who fail test
The group representing Ireland's driving instructors has said any move to take learner drivers who fail their tests off the roads could be difficult to implement.
Reports this morning said Minister for Transport Martin Cullen was planning reforms that would see provisional licence holders forced to undergo more tuition and re-sit the test before they are allowed to drive again.
The Driving Instructors Register said such reform is long overdue, but there may be problems in implementing the move.
"I can’t see how it works," DIR chief executive Des Cummins said. "I have no idea as to how the minister could possibly work this."
