Richard Hannon is looking for a suitable place at stud for Major Cadeaux after he returned from his run in the Lockinge Stakes “very sore”.
The five-year-old finished fifth at Newbury, one place behind stablemate Paco Boy.
However, Hannon now thinks it is time to move the Group Two winner on to pastures new.
“We are looking to move the Major on, and it would be great if we could find him a proper stallion job,” said Hannon.
“He has proved an absolute star for us. He won four races, including annihilating Dutch Art by three and a half lengths in the Greenham, and he was also placed in two Group Ones, the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville.
“He ran his heart out on his return at Newbury, but he never quite got the mile, otherwise he could have gone right to the top.
“He has taken us to Ireland, France and Hong Kong, and, being a Group Two winner of the Sandown Mile and a dual Group Three winner, he has a CV that ought to appeal to breeders.
“If and when he does go, everyone at Herridge will miss him – he has such a wonderful temperament,” he told www.richardhannonracing.tv.
