Fawn supported for Oaks glory

Peeping Fawn is now the 6-4 favourite for tomorrow’s Darley Irish Oaks as confidence in Epsom heroine Light Shift continues to wane.

William Hill make Aidan O’Brien’s charge their market leader despite the filly having finished half a length adrift of the Henry Cecil-trained Light Shift in the English Oaks.

Punters have been keen to back Peeping Fawn, winner of the Pretty Polly Stakes late last month, while Light Shift is now the 15-8 second favourite.

Hills are expecting to see more money for the Ballydoyle filly as fans of big-race rider Kieren Fallon lump on.

Spokesman Tony Kenny said: “We’ve seen a lot of support for Peeping Fawn over the last few days and with Kieren Fallon in the saddle we wouldn’t be surprised if he went off around an even-money chance.

“There are thousands of Irish punters that religiously back Kieren Fallon and it has come as no surprise that the majority of the money for Peeping Fawn has come in our Irish offices.”

Cashmans also report a lack of confidence in Light Shift’s bid for a Classic double and she is their 7-4 joint-favourite along with Peeping Fawn, who has been cut from 9-4.
