Dane Michael Rasmussen claimed today's 16th stage of the Tour De France – the toughest of the race so far - and with it, the King of the Mountains jersey.
He broke away with Tadej Valjavec and Sandy Casar just 10km into the stage, leading them over the hors category Col du Galibier, before going out on his own on the following climb.
Carlos Sastre crossed the line second, with Spain’s Oscar Pareiro finishing third to claim back in the yellow jersey, with just four stages left to ride.
The challenge of American Floyd Landis fell apart in the course of the race, and his hopes of an overall victory are now over.
