Tipperary side Mullinahone reclaimed the All-Ireland Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Sevens title last night by beating reigning champions Portumna of Galway 6-07 to 0-15 at Glenalbyn.
Mullinahone, who last lifted the AIB Cup in 2002, held all the aces in two-goal Tipperary senior Paul Kelly and, in goals, the Premier County's three-time AllStar-winning forward John Leahy.
Portumna, who had accounted for the Mickey O'Connell-led Midleton in the semi-finals, battled bravely, but minus the Croke Park-tied Damien Hayes and down 0-09 to 3-02 at half-time, there was no way back.
The winners also defeated O'Tooles of Dublin and St Catherine's of Cork in the knock-out stages, with Kelly and Brian O'Meara amongst the goals.
