Former Ceann Comhairle John O'Donoghue has announced his intention to contest the next General Election in South Kerry.

Former Ceann Comhairle John O'Donoghue has announced his intention to contest the next General Election in South Kerry.

The Fianna Fáil, who was forced to resign his position as Ceann Comhairle in 2009 in a scandal over his expenses, lost his seat last year.

In an interview with Kerry's Eye newspaper, he said he is quite certain he can take a seat next time round.
