Gardai in Dublin made a massive drugs bust in Dublin overnight, seizing €12m worth of drugs.
It’s understood detectives have been working on this operation for several weeks, headed up by specialist officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit and several units from the City Centre.
They had launched an offensive against one of the Northside’s biggest drugs distribution gangs.
Last night they tailed a van from Dublin city centre to Coolock, pulled it over and found €4m worth of cannabis inside.
Detectives then carried out a follow up search ina house in Coolock and found more drugs - this time cocaine worth €2 million.
More house searches were launched overnight, which led to the discovery of a further €6m worth of cannabis, and a quantity of firearms, including a machine gun.
One man has been arrested as a result of the finds and has been quizzed overnight at Coolock garda station.
He is being detained under drug trafficking legislation, which allows him to be held for up to seven days without charge.
