Overnight joint leader Paul Broadhurst surrendered his share at the top on the first hole of his second round at the KLM Open in Holland this morning but Scotland’s Steven O’Hara moved into his place.
The 39-year-old was in a tie with four others after a 66 yesterday but a bogey at the first dropped him back into the chasing group on three under.
Having found the front of the green with his approach, the former Ryder Cup player managed to three-putt from 25 feet and could only watch as his effort for par from three feet lipped out.
He recovered his composure to par the next three holes but by then Motherwell 24-year-old O’Hara had moved ahead of him after going to the turn in 32.
The Bellshill-born golfer had birdies at the short fifth, the par-four seventh and ninth and when he made three at the 14th he was the only player out on the course who had a share of the lead.
Australian Adam Groom, another of the joint leaders, also found trouble this morning with a five at the first and although he clawed that back with a birdie at the fourth, a double-bogey six at the 472-yard sixth dropped him to two under.
However, a three at the 421-yard next lifted back alongside Broadhurst and a host of others, including Spain’s Miguel Angel Martin who, after bogeying the first, had a run of three birdies from the third.
