Blur drummer Dave Rowntree has once again failed to be elected as an MP – but declared it a “fantastic result”.
The musician came second to the Conservatives after standing as Labour candidate for the Cities of London and Westminster.
Sitting Conservative MP Mark Field was re-elected with 19,264 votes (a 52.2% share) to Rowntree’s 8,188 (22.2%), a 3.5% swing from Labour to the Conservatives.
