Leinster coach Declan Kidney demanded his side remain focused on next Friday’s Pool Two return tie in France after racking up 13 tries in the 92-17 defeat of Bourgoin today.
No fewer than nine of Leinster’s players claimed tries, including hat-trick hero Felipe Contepomi.
Kidney, though, was more concerned about the three they conceded.
“It was a nice way for the internationals to come back in but looking at it, we were just one try away from giving away a bonus point to Bourgoin,” he said.
“It’s only half-time in these fixtures and over the years it’s proved very hard to win both, so we’re already turning our attention to next Friday.
“Some of the players, such as Eric (Miller) and Victor (Costello), who hadn’t played in four-and-a-half weeks, needed the full 80 minutes and hopefully that will help us next week.”
Both Miller and Costello were among the try-scorers as Leinster convincingly beat their previous record win – a 41-point success over Swansea in 2001/02.
Man of the match Contepomi, who kicked 14 points in Argentina’s 21-19 defeat at the same venue seven days ago, insisted: “We will have to be prepared for a tough encounter next week.
“It was a good night for us; we played some good rugby, kept the pace and kept ahead in the game. But Bourgoin kept fighting and probably finished better than us.”
Leinster skipper Reggie Corrigan added: “We certainly weren’t expecting as big a win, and were surprised at the margin but we just capitalised on their errors and if our guys in the backs get the space, they usually finish the job.”
