The Irish Amateur Boxing Association will determine their full squad for next month's European Union Championships in Poland following a two-day invitational trial competition at the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday June 6 and Saturday June 7.
The trials will be in the 51Kg, 57Kg, 60Kg, 69Kg, 91Kg, and 91+Kg weight categories and are open to boxers who participated in the semi finals of the 2008 National Senior Championships.
Irish Olympians, Ken Egan (81Kg) Darren Sutherland, (75Kg) John Joe Joyce (64kg) John Joe Nevin (54Kg) and Paddy Barnes (48Kg) have already been selected for the Irish squad for the Championships which take place in Cetniwo, Poland from June 15-22.
Egan, Sutherland and Roy Sheahan won gold at the 2007 European Union Championships at the National Stadium.
Carl Frampton and Cathal McMonagle also finished in podium positions in Dublin, claiming one silver medal each to ensure that Ireland finished on top of the medals won table.
The weigh-ins for the upcoming trials will be held between 9am and 10am at the National Stadium on Friday June 6 and Saturday June 7. The draw will be made shortly after the Fridays weigh-in.
Entries of eligible boxers must be confirmed to IABA Honorary Secretary Sean Crowley no later than May 30.
