Workforce has been given the go-ahead to run in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs in November – as long as conditions are suitable.

The Derby and Arc hero, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, will be confirmed for the American feature after satisfying connections in a workout on Saturday morning.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, said: “Workforce will be confirmed as a runner for the Breeders’ Cup Turf on Monday.

“He will run providing the ground is not too firm.”

Stoute's colt has already enjoyed a bumper harvest this season, with his runaway Derby triumph supplemented by a rousing success at Longchamp.

The son of King’s Best booked his likely place in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, for which he is clear favourite, when put through his paces at Newmarket.

Workforce covered nine furlongs on the Racecourse Side grass gallop, where he was joined by stable companions Ithinkbest and Confront.

Settled at the rear of the trio early on by Ryan Moore, the three-year-old quickened up most impressively to power clear.
