Taqleed heads Lincoln acceptors

Ante-post favourite Taqleed is among a massive 90 horses remaining in the William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster on Saturday at the confirmation stage.

Only the top 22 in the handicap can take their place in the valuable handicap over the straight mile on Town Moor, although there is a consolation race for the second phase of horses in the William Hill Spring Mile on the same card.

Taqleed has excellent credentials to give trainer John Gosden a second success in the race in three years having won his first two starts last season and finished a creditable sixth in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket in October.

He carries the colours of Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Gosden has another possible in Doctor Crane, who has not run since winning at Newmarket in 2009 and is owned by his wife Rachel Hood.

Penitent, winner of the race 12 months ago, heads the weights on 9st 11lb while his trainer William Haggas has another leading fancy in Kalk Bay, but he needs about 10 horses to come out at the 48-hour final declaration stage to make the cut.

The Barry Hills-trained Gunner Lindley is another that is not guaranteed a place yet.

Richard Fahey looks to have a strong hand in Harrison George, Castles In The Air, Irish Heartbeat, Prime Exhibit, Brae Hill and Our Joe Mac.

Among the other acceptors include Fareer, Sweet Lightning, Lowther, Tartan Gigha and Docofthebay.
