Bob Geldof was left shocked and shaken after a motorcyclist crashed into his car - but is relived the biker escaped without serious injuries.

The former Boomtown Rats frontman was doing a U-turn in a busy London street when the motorcyclist suddenly collided with his vehicle.

Speaking shortly after the incident, Geldof told reporters: "I'm very shaken but fine. There was no serious harm done to anyone in our car. It's just a shock."

The 39-year-old biker was taken to hospital with minor knee and groin injuries, and Geldof was relieved to learn the victim was not seriously wounded.

He adds: "Thank God he's fine. Thank God again. The main thing is he's OK. He had all his bike gear on which probably stopped a lot of damage. I was speaking to him and told him to lie still. The paramedics came and checked him. There's nothing broken which surprised me. I'm so glad.

"I was pulling out and a woman stopped to let me go and the bike came up on the other side and went into the wheel. He was knocked flying. It was an accident."
