Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been confirmed as Megan Fox's replacement in 'Transformers 3'.
The model - who has no previous acting experience - was confirmed by the film's director Michael Bay as having won the leading role of Mikaela Banes in the action adventure franchise.
Writing on his blog, Michael said: "I would like for all you fans to welcome Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to the world of Transformers."
Her publicist Liz Matthews also confirmed the news, writing on twitter: "Been waiting to tweet this for ages!! I can now confirm Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the new female lead in 'Transformers 3'! (sic)"
The third film in the movie series has just begun shooting in Los Angeles, and Michael's production partner confirmed the scale of the project.
He said: "Mike, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and I are all big fans of trying to keep as much of our production in Los Angeles as possible. It's a big movie. All our stage work is being done here."
Around six weeks of the four and a half month project will be completed in Los Angeles, with other scenes shot in Chicago, Cape Canaveral and various other international locations.
'Transformers 3' - which sees the return of Shia LaBeouf as lead character Sam Witwicky - is due for release in the US on July 1, 2011.
