ISEQ up in early trading

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was in positive territory at 11am this morning, rising 18.81 to 2,974.38 in early trading.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was in positive territory at 11am this morning, rising 18.81 to 2,974.38 in early trading.

Index majors on the risers' board included CRH, up 22c to 17.92; Elan Corp, rising 13c to 5.85; Kerry Group, gaining 8c to 15.55, and Aer Lingus, adding 1c to 0.60.

Stocks on a downward trend included Tullow Oil, down 36c to 11.25; Smurfit Kappa, losing 15c to 4.07; FBD, slipping 13c to 7.75; Glanbia, down 10c to 2.55; Greencore, 5c off at 1.17, and Ryanair, losing 4c to 3.49.

Fortunes were mixed among the financials, with AIB up 12c to 2.35, Bank of Ireland unmoved at 2.18, and Irish Life & Permanent down 6c to 4.30.
