‘Love Ulster’ organisers refuse to rule out re-run of march

The Northern organisers of the 'Love Ulster' rally in Dublin on Saturday, headed by south Armagh man Willie Frazer, said this afternoon that they may apply for a re-run.

The Northern organisers of the 'Love Ulster' rally in Dublin on Saturday, headed by south Armagh man Willie Frazer, said this afternoon that they may apply for a re-run.

The SDLP and Sinn Féin have condemned the violence, while unionists have said it shows the true nature of Irish republicanism.

Mr Frazer said his group wasn't the kind to give up and was considering a re-run, while the Ulster Unionist leader Reg Empey said the thugs responsible for the rioting had graphically made the case for unionism.

It had, he said, given people in Dublin a flavour of what unionists had had to put up with for over 30 years in the North.

SDLP assembly man for North Antrim Sean Farren said the message conveyed was that there was no welcome for unionists in Dublin, which was a denial of the ultimate republican aim.

A preliminary Garda report will be presented to Ministerfor Justice Michael McDowell this evening for discussion at a Cabinet meeting in the morning.
