A Green Party official has condemned the action of a building development company who offered Ryder Cup tickets to South Dublin county councillors earlier this week.
"As a company director myself, I know that it is a legal obligation for company directors to act at all times in the interest of the company and its shareholders," said Cllr Tony McDermott. "All county councillors must also be aware of this.
"If I had been offered tickets, I would have refused, as I cannot see how attending the Ryder Cup as a corporate guest of a developer would help me in my role as an elected public representative."
South Dublin county is one of the fastest growing counties in Ireland and one of the most profitable for developers. Councillors there face many critical decisions regarding the zoning of lands.
