Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani was marrying his fiancee today in the city he inspired after the US terror attacks on September 11, 2001.
The 58-year-old was marrying Judith Nathan at Manhattan’s Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residence, in a ceremony officiated by his successor, Mike Bloomberg.
Wedding details – including guest list, wardrobe choices and honeymoon plans - have been shrouded in secrecy.
But the ex-mayor’s teenage son, Andrew, has been confirmed as best man and organised a stag party for his father on Thursday at a New York Yankees baseball game.
Mr Giuliani proposed to Ms Nathan during a Paris business trip last November, five months after finalising his divorce from Donna Hanover, his wife of 20 years.
Under the settlement, Ms Hanover received more than €5.5m.
Mr Giuliani’s first marriage to his second cousin, Regina Peruggi, lasted about 14 years.
Giuliani runs a consulting firm after stepping down as mayor at the end of 2001, but is expected to make a return to political life in the near future.
Ms Nathan, a former nurse, has a teenage daughter from her marriage to wallpaper salesman Bruce Nathan, which ended in 1992.
