The US Government has withdrawn its $25m (€28m) reward offer to Afghans for finding Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden.

A senior US official told the Washington Post that the offer was withdrawn because it was "beyond the comprehension of the Afghan people".

In its place, the US has decided to offer Afghans livestock or help drilling wells in return for information on bin Laden’s whereabouts.

The FBI will leave the $25m (€28m) reward offer in place for people outside Afghanistan.
