Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey has been ruled out of the UEFA Cup second qualifying round second leg clash with Iceland’s FH Hafnarfjordur at Villa Park.

Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey has been ruled out of the UEFA Cup second qualifying round second leg clash with Iceland’s FH Hafnarfjordur at Villa Park.

The former Reading defender nicked a medial knee ligament during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Stoke, although he is expected to be fit for Sunday’s Premier League game with Liverpool.

Villa boss Martin O’Neill is set to ring the changes tomorrow, with the likes of Marlon Harewood, Zat Knight and Craig Gardner also set to be given starting places.

The Midlands club hold a 4-1 lead from the first leg.
