Cork City and the Sligo-Leitrim and District League will meet in the final of this year’s Enda McGuill under-21 League Cup on Saturday at Turners Cross at 7pm.
Both sides will be taking part in the final for the first time and Sligo-Leitrim do so in their first season competing at this level.
Cork City look set to start as favourites. City’s form at this level this season has seen them win 13 and draw two of their 15 league and cup games. Along the way they have scored a total of 52 goals and conceded just three.
Manager Stuart Ashton said: “Obviously it’s a nice one for the lads to play in the Cross and it will be under floodlights which, I feel anyway, makes for a nice atmosphere and hopefully through the right advertisement during the week we’ll have a good crowd there.”
In the past few weeks striker Denis Behan has been the star of the under-21 side, bagging 13 goals in the last six games including two hat-tricks.
