Brendan Markey is in line for a return to Dublin City after hitting a hat-trick for the Vikings in a friendly against Leinster Senior League side Belgrove.
Roddy Collins’ new-look side, which will be further strengthened this week by the arrival of veteran former England international midfielder Carlton Palmer this week, hammered Belgrove 6-2.
Markey, 27, hit three goals just 24 hours after appearing as a substitute for Monaghan United in their shock 2-0 FAI Cup defeat at Rockmount.
A former Millwall player, Markey was Dublin City’s leading scorer and player of the year in 2002-03.
The other Vikings’ scorers last night were Cathal O'Connor, Gary O'Neill and Scott Friel.
