Jose Antonio Reyes has won a recall from Spain as new coach Luis Aragones included the forward in his squad for next week’s friendly against Venezuela.
The 20-year-old Arsenal player, a surprise omission from Inaki Saez’s squad for Euro 2004, starred in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Community Shield on Sunday and was widely tipped for a recall to the national squad for next Wednesday’s game in Las Palmas.
Speaking in Gran Canaria after the announcement of the squad Aragones explained: “My plan is to take the national team to all Spain so that all the fans are with the team.
“There are no friendly games for me as all are important in preparing the team for the official matches.
“Although we are a little heavy footed at the moment we aim to give the Canary Island fans the best that we can offer.”
