Garda detectives are probing the discovery of a body today near Pilltown in Co Kilkenny.

Garda detectives are probing the discovery of a body today near Pilltown in Co Kilkenny.

A passer-by found the body at around midday a short distance from the road at Breanor Bridge.

Officers have preserved the scene for further examination and the Garda technical Bureau and State pathologist Marie Cassidy are on their way to the area.

Gardaí said it is not yet clear whether the body is that of a man or a woman.
