Ireland to give further €5m to Afghan projects

The Government has announced a further funding allocation of €5m for reconstruction projects in Afghanistan.

The Government has announced a further funding allocation of €5m for reconstruction projects in Afghanistan.

The funding was announced today by Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen, who is attending an international conference on Afghanistan in Berlin.

The money brings Ireland’s total contribution to the rebuilding programme since January 2002 to €17m.

The Government has also allocated €4m to humanitarian schemes in Afghanistan.
