Sinn Fein has joined a growing chorus of criticism for Fianna Fail’s proposed national finance development agency, which would organise funding for the future Government’s capital spending programme.
Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams described the proposed agency as an election gimmick, suggesting
that Charlie McCreevy is preparing a get-out clause should he be forced to manage an economic downturn.
Both Fine Gael and the Labour Party have already dismissed the proposal as creative accounting and a way of disguising Government borrowing.
