Woman Dies After Incident With Car In Wexford
Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman’s body outside a residential premises in Mill Park housing estate.

The body of a woman in her 50s has been found underneath a car in a County Wexford village following a freak accident earlier on Tuesday.

The incident is believed to have occurred between 11:30am and midday in the tight-knit village Castlebridge in a housing estate about 10 minutes from Wexford town.

Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman’s body outside a residential premises in Mill Park housing estate.

Foul play is not suspected by investigating officers.

The body of the woman remains at the scene and will be later removed to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) where a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.

A joint agency response involving the fire service, National Ambulance Service and several gardai attended the scene, however the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, garda headquarters said: “Forensic collision investigators are attending and a section of the Mill Park estate is currently closed to traffic. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.”

Any road users or pedestrians who were in the Mill Park area of Castlebridge this morning between 11:30am and 12 noon and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.

Local Labour Party councillor George Lawlor explained that the entire area was shocked by the tragic events and added that the incident appeared to be a “freak accident”.

Cllr Lawlor said his thoughts and those of the entire locality are with the lady’s family and friends.
