The Government has broken its pre-election promise on childcare, according to the Green Party.
The criticism follows yesterday's Government announcement of €480 million for childcare and early learning facilities.
The Green Party said the new fee caps on childcare costs do not go far enough for struggling families.
Green Party leader Roderic O'Gorman, former minister for children and youth, said the Government is way off target.
O'Gorman said: "They need to bring forward a clear plan as to how they're going to reach a max €200 per month fee per child by the end of their term in government.
"Nothing was done on this in their first budget and the announcement, which is basically implementing their first budget, doesn't see more money going into the NCS - national childcare scheme."
