Met Éireann is warning we can expect a lot of rain this weekend.

It is going to be cooler than usual for this time of year with temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees. Monday will be the best day with some dry sunny spells.

Forecaster Liz Gavin said that the outlook for the bank holiday weekend is "quite mixed".

"We do have low pressure nearby and this is going to bring some showers, possibly some heavier showers Saturday afternoon into the evening time.

"For Sunday there is still some showers in the mix but they won't be quite as heavy as the showers on Saturday," she said.

Met Éireann said Saturday will have a clear start and the morning will be mostly dry with sunny spells, with a few showers in the west.

The afternoon will be largely cloudy with frequent showers in the north and west. Dry and bright in the south-east. Cooler with moderate south-westerly winds, with maximum temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.

Sunday will be fine and dry with plenty of sunshine during the early morning. Patchy clouds will form through the day, along with a scattering of showers. Moderate south-westerly winds, with maximum temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.

Bank holiday Monday will be generally fine with occasional sunny spells and areas of patchy cloud. Just the chance of a few scattered showers. A gentle westerly breeze, with maximum temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.
