Man appears in court in connection with Daly murder in Offaly

A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Christy Daly in County Offaly.

A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Christy Daly in County Offaly.

Ross Allen with an address at Kilmonaghan Lodge in Clara was brought before a special sitting of Portlaoise District Court this morning.

The remains of Mr Daly were discovered in a drain close to a burnt out caravan where he lived just outside Clara on January 7. He had been shot a number of times.

Mr Allen has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Cloverhill District Court again on February 27.
