Harry Redknapp admits he may not be in charge of Portsmouth for tomorrow’s visit of Middlesbrough, the last Barclaycard Premiership game of the season.
Redknapp is in dispute with chairman Milan Mandaric over reported plans to sack trusted assistant Jim Smith.
Mandaric has hinted at bringing in a foreign coach to work with Redknapp, who insists it would be very hard for him to stay at the club if Smith was forced to leave.
But Mandaric claimed yesterday it was Redknapp who was keen to see Smith move on.
“Why would I come out and support Jim all week if it meant me probably losing my job?” Redknapp told BBC Radio 4.
“There is not a chance I would want to get rid of Jim. There would seem to be only one conclusion in the end – it will very difficult for me to stay.
“I’m not sure if I’ll be in charge tomorrow. I’ve had a great two years here and enjoyed every minute of it. We deserve to be treated better.
“He (Mandaric) has been backed into a corner after seeing how the fans reacted and he’s fought dirty. He’s used dirty tricks – incredible.
“I won’t offer my resignation, why should I? I won’t make it easy for Mr Mandaric and walk away.”
