Madonna has announced that the star-studded visual film for her upcoming record Confessions II will be released next week.
The US popstar announced the news ahead of the world premiere of Confessions II – The Film at the annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Friday.
The film, directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase (Torso), is a cinematic presentation “that gives physicality” to her upcoming album which will be released on July 3rd.
The 67-year-old star shared a poster for the film, which sees her suspended from the ceiling and hanging upside down with a red filter over the dramatic image.
Actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard E Grant and Archie Madekwe, model Kate Moss and actresses Julia Garner and Odessa A’zion are among the stars named on the poster, as well as Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon.
Other celebrities listed include actresses Gwendoline Christie and Debi Mazar, DJs Honey Dijon and Shygirl, and two professional footballers – Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro.
The chart-topper – known for hits including Like A Prayer and Vogue – told her 20.2 Instagram followers: “Confessions II The Film has arrived. June 8th, 11am EST only on @YouTube.”
The 10-minute film is built around the first six tracks of Madonna’s upcoming album according to the Tribeca Film Festival website, including her latest releases I Feel So Free and Bring Your Love – which features pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
It is also described as unfolding the tracks “as a single, continuous piece, weaving together interconnected, music-driven sequences into an immersive cinematic experience”.
The film comes ahead of the release of her highly-anticipated 15th studio album, which is a sequel to her Grammy-winning 2005 record Confessions On A Dancefloor.
It marks her first studio album in almost seven years, since Madame X in 2019.
The original Confessions On A Dancefloor is known for its nightclub music and hits such as Sorry and Hung Up, and is considered to be one of her best albums, along with Like A Prayer and Ray Of Light.
The veteran popstar launched her career in the 1980s and has since achieved global success, having had 13 UK number one singles and 12 number one albums.
Madonna has also won many accolades throughout her decades-long career, including seven Grammys and two Brit Awards.
