O'Brien Fine Foods, producer of the brands Brady Family, Homebird, and Green Farm, have said the acquisition comes into effect from December 1st.

Currently, O’Brien Fine Foods operates three production facilities in Ireland with over 500 staff. The company supplies products to all major retailers including Tesco, Lidl, Dunnes, and the Musgrave Group.

Now, with the acquisition of Bearfields of London, O’Brien Fine Foods is aiming to develop within the UK.

Established in the 1960s, Bearfields of London is a family-run business with a team of over 100 people. The UK based business supplies to Lidl, Costco and a number of other catering and retail businesses.

Speaking about the company's growth, John O’Brien, Managing Director of O’Brien Fine Foods, said he is delighted to have secured the acquisition.

"This acquisition allows us to enter the UK market with an established and successful business, and we look forward to working to develop the brand and offering through investment in the business and the people," Mr O'Brien said.

The acquisition of Bearfields will see O'Briens make an initial investment in a new facility in London.

"Our continued growth is testament to the success of the business and the talent and expertise of the O’Brien Fine Foods team in Ireland," Mr O'Brien added.

"We will bring this knowledge and know-how to bear in working with the Bearfields team while opportunity exists for our people, customers, and suppliers as a result of this acquisition."
