Jack Grealish has been named in the Ireland U21 squad for their final European Championship qualifier against Germany next month.
The 18-year-old, who plays with Aston Villa, has represented Ireland many times at underage level and is regarded as one of Ireland’s brightest future prospects. He played in Villa’s opening Premier League fixture last weekend.
However as Grealish was born in Birmingham he is also eligible to play for England.
The midfielder has told Ireland manager Martin O’Neill he wants to take some time before deciding who to declare for at a senior level.
That hasn’t stopped Ireland U21 manager including him in his squad for the game in Germany on September 5.
Ireland fans can only hope that further time in a green jersey will persuade him to commit to it for the long term.
With Jack Grealish named in U21s v Germany hopefully (a) he'll travel and play & (b) It won't be his last appearance in green #toptalent
