Ramos in no rush to sign Real deal

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos insists he is in no rush to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu.

The Spain international has held talks with the European champions with a view to remain with Los Blancos after June 2017, when his current deal expires.

“We’ve had meetings to speak about the contract extension but I’m not in a hurry,” Ramos told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. “I have two years left on my contract.

“This is something that doesn’t bother me at all.

“It depends on the club, not on me. I have a good relationship with club president Florentino Perez and we often speak.

“Thanks to him I achieved a dream which was to join the best club in the world. I will be eternally thankful to him for that.”

Ramos has enjoyed his best year at Real since moving to Madrid in 2005 in a 27million euros transfer from Sevilla.

The 28-year-old scored the crucial late equaliser in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid in May to take the game into extra-time.

Real would go on to win 4-1 to lift a record 10th European Cup.

Ramos was voted the best player in the Club World Cup tournament on Saturday after scoring in both the semi-final and the final in Morocco to help Real win the tournament.

“To be given an individual award is something to be thankful for,” Ramos said. “But I owe everything to my team-mates.

“This has been the most important year of my life not just professionally but from a personal level. I became a father and I have won four titles with Real (Copa del Rey, Champions League, European Super Cup, Club World Cup) this year.”

Real, coached by Carlo Ancelotti, are one point clear of Barcelona at the top of the Primera Division heading into 2015 and have a game in hand.
