Kaymer and Schwartzel neck and neck in Sun City

Martin Kaymer and Charl Schwartzel were locked together at the top of the leaderboard on the final day of the Nedbank Challenge at Sun City.

Overnight leader Kaymer had started the day with a one-shot advantage over the rest of the field, but was unable to shave anything off par over the course of the first eight holes, allowing Schwartzel to pull up alongside him on five under.

The ever-consistent South African took birdies on the second and ninth holes, with Bill Haas next in line after on four under after getting to the turn two under.

Schwartzel’s compatriot Louis Oosthuizen was next, slipping from second to tied for fourth after a one-over eight holes, with defending champion Lee Westwood still in with a shout on three under after two birdies and a bogey to the turn.

A big gap then opened out to the rest, with Paul Lawrie, the leader 48 hours ago, one over, Francesco Molinari two over and then the rest, including Carl Pettersson, Peter Hanson, Justin Rose and Nicolas Colsaerts all between three and five over at various stages on the home straight.

There was no respite for the ailing Garth Mulroy, though, who was two over through 14 and nine over for the competition.
