The Model County have thrilled supporters with huge wins in the Qualifiers over All-Ireland champions Clare, in a replay, and Waterford in Nowlan Park last weekend.

Club ticket orders for stands have come to over 5000 apparently. Our allocation at present is 2000. That's what clubs learned this evening.

The county board have said they have received 5,000 club orders for stand tickets, however they have only received an allocation for 2,000 of these.

Semple Stadium is Ireland’s second largest GAA stadium and has a capacity for up to 53,500 fans.

However, three of four counties involved in Sunday’s double-header are expected to bring large numbers of travelling fans and with a large Tipperary home crowd thought to be attending that has caused massive demand for tickets.

Wexford suspended ticket sells last night and released a statement on their website calling for the games to be moved to Croker, which was originally due to be playing host to the Garth Brooks concerts over the weekend.

The statement read: “A problem has arisen with tickets for the Wexford v Limerick game where the demand for stand tickets has far exceeded the quantity received.

“As a result sales of all tickets have been suspended for the moment until Wednesday afternoon. We are endeavouring to obtain more stand tickets in order to meet the demands of our loyal supporters.

“Alternatively we are asking the CCC Committee to consider moving the games to Croke Park thus ensuring adequate accommodation for all.”

The GAA have yet to comment on the matter.
